SILK SHAWL

Silk’ the very name emanates richness. And true to its name it brings richness to the ensemble, as a whole. Silk shawls make any outfit look more appealing. No doubt it was what the royals were always seen in. Think of any movie of yore where the king and queen were depicted. The royal cast would always have a silk shawl around their shoulders.

To bring to its richness even more colored stones were embellished all around it. Even embroidery makes it look extravagant. In the north Indian states you will find a typical style of embroidery done on every silk shawl of flowers and leaves filled with colours giving it a unique look to the self-coloured shawl.

The silk shawl can be quite heavy on the pocket. Provided they are of pure silk and emblazoned with semi-precious or precious stones. The lower budgeted ones are made from raw silk or synthetic silk. So although it looks real, it is not. But if it serves your purpose you rather pick it up than dig deep into your pockets.

Silk shawls, especially made in India have a growing market in Europe. Firstly because of the rich silk that India is famous for and secondly the embroidery art is appreciated as it is very native to India.

These types of shawls are more like a style statement. They give your dress more glory. They are certainly not to protect you from the chill weathers. However it may assist you if it is a few degrees lower than the normal temperature. Hence it is more sought after for style and fashion
